MSC & BM – pros & cons: 

MSC:

 + They do not require tissue matching

 + They can be obtained at the clinic (you do not have to ship a family unit)

 + The lab can control the cell quantity

 + It is easy to collect and grow 

 -  They come from an unknown person (donor) 

 -  Very often the clinic obtains them from a third-party laboratory (unknown quality) 

BM:

 + Autologous cells are safer

 -  You have no control over the cell number obtained 

-   The procedure to maintain them is invasive and painful
